Commercial chain link uses 9-gauge (.148") or 6-gauge (.192") wire. 9-gauge is standard for parking lots, warehouses, and property perimeters. 6-gauge handles high-security and industrial applications requiring maximum cut resistance. Residential 11.5-gauge is too light for commercial installations.

Commercial chain link is available from 4 to 12 feet. Most commercial installations run 6 to 8 feet. Heights above 8 feet suit industrial yards and security perimeters. Barbed wire or razor topping adds 1 to 3 feet. Post sizes are engineered for height and wind load.

Materials run $8–$22 per linear foot depending on height, gauge, and coatings. Standard 6-foot 9-gauge galvanized runs $8–$12. Vinyl-coated 8-foot runs $14–$18. Heavy 6-gauge at 10–12 feet runs $18–$22+. Projects over 1,000 linear feet qualify for mill-direct pricing.

Commercial chain link uses heavier wire (9-gauge or 6-gauge vs. 11.5-gauge residential), larger posts (2-3/8" to 4" vs. 1-5/8" to 2"), Schedule 40 pipe, and taller heights (6–12 feet vs. 4–6 feet). Commercial frameworks handle higher wind loads and longer spans. All commercial chain link should be ASTM A 392 certified.
